Tanzanian singer Jay Melody has opened up about the massive success of his hit song ‘Nakupenda.’ In an interview with Millardayo on YouTube, the 25-year-old artist revealed that the song, which took months to write, has become his most popular one to date. “I was the first one to discover the sample to that song online,” he said, “I sat on it deliberating about it.” Jay Melody also shared that the song has earned him over 200 million, and he has major shows lined up as a result of its success. The music video has over 21 million views on YouTube, and the song’s popularity has led to gigs in Qatar, Kenya, Oman, and Uganda. Despite the delays in releasing the video, the singer explained that he wanted it to be relatable to all his fans outside Tanzania, and it took a long time to shoot and edit. Jay Melody expressed excitement about the opportunities the hit song has brought him, saying, “I get gigs because of this song. So you can say I have made a lot of money from this song.”
