Turning in his grave: The restaurant where AKA was shot, closed

A South African restaurant in Durban is set to close down following the murder of acclaimed rapper AKA outside its doorstep in February. AKA, 35, was shot dead alongside his friend Tebello Motsoane as they were walking towards their car along a popular road in the city. The restaurant, called ‘Wish On Florida’, announced on Monday that it will close its doors on April 10, citing “a severe downturn in business” since the fatal shooting. The management said in a statement that the closure was due to the brand equity of Wish On Florida being “deeply hindered.” AKA was known for hit singles such as “Fela in Versace” and “All Eyes on Me.”
