King Kaka: How Losing Our Child Robbed Us of Peace

In an emotional confession, Kenyan rapper King Kaka has opened up about the loss of his unborn child and how it cost him and his wife Nana Owiti their peace. King Kaka, in his new song ‘Atanishindia’ featuring Watendawili, says that the loss brought a lot of tears and robbed them of peace. “Bearer of good news. You just missed a P’s. A child this world tutaongeza lini? Basin na ngepa za crotchet coloured.” he sings. He went on to describe how they received the news of the miscarriage and how they struggled with the loss. King Kaka and Nana Owiti, who have two kids, had a hard time in 2021 after the artist became bedridden for months.
Nana had also previously revealed that she had been carrying a dead fetus for five weeks before suffering a miscarriage in 2014. Speaking about her experience, she said she was traumatized and heartbroken, and her relationship with her fiance, King Kaka, cracked in more places than she would have wanted.
Nana also shared her advice for pregnant women to monitor their pregnancies and always visit a gynecologist. “As soon as you find out you are pregnant, get you a gynae if you can. If not, then just start a clinic so they can check on your progress and the baby’s and put you (the expectant mother) on supplements,” she said.
Losing a child is a traumatic experience that leaves many parents with emotional scars that never heal. We hope King Kaka and Nana Owiti find the strength and support they need to overcome their loss and find peace.
