Jalang’o Seeks President Ruto’s Guidance to Learn Winning Election Strategies

Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has expressed his interest in the presidency and has disclosed that he is working closely with President William Ruto to learn his skills for winning an election. In an undated video that emerged online, the MP stated his ambition to become the future head of state and his eagerness to be the first person from the Luo community to hold the position.
Jalang’o revealed that he approached President Ruto because of his unbeaten election record and is determined to learn the strategies he uses to succeed, even if it means resorting to stealing. He said, “I went to learn how he (Ruto) has been getting it right, whether it’s stealing or other ways. I’m telling you, I’m getting those skills, and I know I will become the first person from the Luo community to become president.”
The MP was among nine ODM members who opted not to participate in Monday’s demonstrations called for by Raila Odinga. Instead, they called for a National Economic Dialogue to find solutions to the country’s economic challenges. In a press statement read on their behalf, they urged those who will join the protests to conduct themselves peacefully and within the confines of the constitution.
As Jalang’o continues his pursuit of the presidency, his alliance with President Ruto will undoubtedly come under scrutiny. Nevertheless, his political aspirations are ambitious and may inspire other politicians to set their sights on the country’s top office.
